ABOUT LAUREN
I grew up in Austin, Texas (yes, I know!) and eventually attended and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (HOOK ‘EM! \m/) with a degree in Radio-Television-Film. I graduated in May 2008, which was not the best time to be looking for a job anywhere in the world. As a result, I ended up doing a number of interesting and challenging jobs that gave me a number of skills and talents. Plus I’ve met a lot of great people!
My passion for the Austin music scene came to life when I created a live music show called “The Earlybird” in 2016, where we featured “Live, local music at a decent hour”. At a local music venue in Austin, we would showcase an awesome local band that would start their set around 6:30pm and end by 8pm. These shows were all ages, and the idea was to get more people to see our great music scene who otherwise would not want to stay out late or go to shady clubs. We had AMAZING audiences, and the bands were fantastic to watch every week!
In 2019, I turned back to my passion of filmmaking when I lobbied to be Williamson County’s first Multimedia Specialist. The Commissioners Court voted to approve the new position, and at the beginning of 2020, I was in charge of all videos, graphics, branding materials, and logos for the county. I was also the other Public Information Officer team leader during COVID response (…and SNO-VID response, and any other emergency event in the county, which turns out, is a lot!).
When I’m not being creative, I am a competitive indoor rower (yes, that’s a thing!) and I’m actually currently ranked 5th in the world for my half-marathon time! It’s a sport that I’m passionate about and love the community!
I’m also a bass player and play in bands when I get the chance, and I give lessons to young aspiring bass players!
